I'm re-packing on a daily basis, to get the most from the space I have. Only 12 days to go, and the adventure continues!

Sounds like a great adventure for post-field day, Edison. Once you have some frequencies posted, I'll be monitoring the bands for you while you're out. Get lots of pictures 'cuz I'd love to be there with ya!

Hello! Billy, Ethel and I hiked the Kettle Crest from Sherman to Boulder on the weekend of my 35th birthday - it was late July...and gorgeous!!! There are a couple of steep switchbacks going up Copper Butte, but the view is just spectacular! You'll love it! I wish we'd had more time - we left after work on Friday, and got into the Boulder campground on Sunday afternoon. It was an incredible bonding experience for my son Billy and I - he was 16 at the time, and I feel that it cemented the great relationship we have to this day. Good luck!

Back home on the mountain top. Something happened to my right knee, and we made the decision to exit the trail at the base of Copper Butte. It was a wise decision. By the time we walked out the 3.5 miles of Marcus #8, my knee was done.
Blaine met us where we came out, and took us to his house, where he and Lynnie fed us a home-cooked meal, let me soak in the tub to help the pain in my knee, Richard showered instead, and then we played music for a couple of hours and drank a bit of whisky. It was a PERFECT ending to a WONDERFUL TREK!! In the morning, Richard and I walked the short distance to the house, and were greeted by a pancake breakfast!
ps: SPECIAL THANKS to Blaine, for knowing where we were, when we didn't.....long story.

The knee will be ok real soon, according to my Dr. I just strained it with too much weight for too many miles. I need to lighten my pack and do only 10 miles or so on each segment....maybe hike less each day, and do more radio work.
The next segment of this trek happens in Fall...no date set as of this post.
Richard and I are BOTH excited to continue!

Well, the TREK on the Kettle Crest Trail #13 North, will continue in late Spring of next year, as soon as most of the snow is gone. We will be going much slower, and doing much more radio work. I'd like to do a few 2-day local trips during the winter. We will see if that happens or not.

Hi Edison,
Biked up trail #13 (north) today, my first time up the mountain after growing up here and being back a few years...absolutely gorgeous (and nutty I hadn't experienced it sooner). Thought I'd search for people's take on the trails and found your site - great pics of your trek, the wildflowers are beautiful. Peace + good stuff - happy trails.

Edison,
Getting ready for your trek to begin again. All my antennas are in the air & the frequencies burned into my rigs. Wish I could be there with you but I will be virtually.
I know even though it's not possible for me at that time you'll be doing this for me, too.

Good luck at finishin that tick off the bucket list. Here's to lots of health, fun, and contacts along the way-- from your life-long buddy,

Thanks, Doc! As I head north, the IRLP node will only get better. I plan to be 'riding home' with you on some days, as I hike along.

Glad you are onboard, virtually.....
