Step 2 is the final step-24 miles of the Kettle Crest...I Hope!
SO HERE IS THE PLAN.....
Starting date-June 17th, 2013
We will be starting from almost the same spot we left the trail. Near the base of Copper Butte on the south side. We plan to camp on the top of Copper Butte the first night. We could even have an extended stay on top to do a lot of radio operating. We'll see. Copper Butte is also the most important mountain for the photography aspect of the TREK. Being the 'high point' of the trail, I'm really looking forward to the amazing photos from there! Those who have been following along, know that I had a problem with my knee on the last trip. A combination of an overloaded pack, and too many miles, too fast. This year, the pack weighs less, and we are camping more, and hiking less.
After the initial climb to Copper Butte, the trail is basically down-hill.....on an average. I've realized that there aren't many folks who have hiked this trail. There would probably be more if everyone knew more about it.......So.....By the time I'm done, anyone who wants to do this hike will be able to 'virtually' take the whole trip from their computer. I will have many photos on this site by the time this trek is completed. Please feel free to pass on this site to others, so they can see the beauty of the Kettle Crest Trail.....
